20 Jul New Analysis: Utah-Made Natural Gas and Oil Drives U.S. Economic Recovery, Strengthens All Industries
SALT LAKE CITY, UT, July 20, 2021—The American Petroleum Institute (API) today released new analysis of the natural gas and oil industry’s vast economic impact on Utah’s economy and highlighted its importance to the state’s post-pandemic recovery. The study, prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and commissioned by API, is based on the latest government data available and shows that Utah’s natural gas and oil industry supported 103,100 total jobs across the state’s economy in 2019. The natural gas and oil industry contributed $12.4 billion toward the Utah’s gross domestic product—including $6.1 billion added to total labor income.
